Gottlieb Heinrich Blessing
Gottlieb emigrated from Germany in 1853, arriving in New York. From there he traveled to Buffalo, staying there 18 months, then to Chicago for 18 months, before coming to Quincy in 1856. Gottlieb was a fruit grower and ran a dairy business. He is listed in the St. Jacobi Early Members publication as having been born in 1835, which is believed to be incorrect, based on other sources.
Gottlieb married Johanna Fredericka Wortmann, daughter of Peter Heinrich Wortmann, Stork and Anna Marie Ilsabein Stork, on 18 Apr 1860 in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois. (Johanna Fredericka Wortmann was born on 18 Oct 1842 in Elverdissen, Herford, Detmold, Nordrhein-Westphalia and died on 6 Dec 1895 in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois.)
